Recently, I did something outside my comfort zone and hosted a posing workshop! It was something I had never done before but I found myself really drawn to teaching, and posing is one of my favorite things about a Minneapolis boudoir photographer. I had several photographers attend, and we spent the afternoon in the studio shooting together and answering questions!
I walked everyone through my workflow, and taught them all the tricks & tips I get to have light hit the body where I want. And what angles accentuate different parts of the body. I realized I had never really verbalized this process, so it was actually really cool for me to share how much I had learned since I first started. And I love seeing this click for other people as well. Posing technique is one of the most vital things to a great boudoir shoot, and being confident in your poses is one of the number one ways to make your client feel comfortable.
Cecelia was our model for the shoot, and that was fun because she is my regular shoot assistant! She has seen me work with so many people and I loved having her in front of the camera. Plus she’s a total hottie, and killed it! I loved her floral lingerie and natural wavy hair. It was a vibe! (Also her sheer white Lounge set was a fav! I’m alway a fan of that mesh-look in the studio, so pretty in photos!)
I’ve been asked if I am going to host another posing workshop in the future, and that’s looking very likely! I really enjoyed everything about this one, and hope to have many more in the studio soon!
