Let’s talk bridal style inspo, yeah? If you’re a bride looking to do a boudoir shoot, but just not sure what to wear… let’s chat. While there’s no one-size-fits-all answer (because this is all about YOU), I love getting to help my clients explore options that feel beautiful, confident, and aligned with their vibe. We’re all about authenticity here.
Recently, I had a bride come into the studio who brought a great variety of outfits—and her session gave all the bridal style inspo – so I wanted to feature her here!
She originally booked her shoot as a wedding gift for her soon-to-be spouse, but by the end, she was floating on cloud 9 herself. That’s the secret with bridal boudoir: you may show up thinking it’s just about the gift… but it turns out to be a huge love letter to yourself, too.
Here’s a peek at what this bride wore, and how it all came together in a way that felt cohesive, fun, and sexy in that effortless way.
There’s something I’ll always love about a simple white tank top and a good pair of black underwear. It’s low-key, relaxed, and has this confident energy that’s just so photogenic. It’s the perfect way to ease into your session—especially if you’re feeling a little nervous (which is totally normal!). This bride looked amazing in this outfit, and it gave us that cozy, comfy vibe to start building momentum.
Next, she brought out a red lace set! Red is such a power color—and it’s not one you often expect in a bridal boudoir session, which is exactly why I love it. The surprise pop of color adds contrast and drama to your album, and it shows off a different side of your personality. Whether it’s red or a bold blue or orange… or anything unexpected, I always encourage my brides to mix it up It adds layers to your session and makes your final images feel extra dynamic. This red two-piece was from Lounge Lingerie (a studio fave!), and it fit her like a dream.
Then we moved into a gray set with white lace trim. It was cute and dainty, and such a fun twist. It was giving Sabrina Carpenter vibes! Next, we moved into a white sheer two-piece that was bridal in all the right ways—while still feeling cool and modern. Again, this one was from Lounge Lingerie (they’re truly killing it with their designs), and it felt like such a sweet nod to her upcoming wedding without being too traditional.
We ended her session with a “just the sheets” moment—always a favorite way to close out a shoot. There’s something so sensual, so timeless, and so you about this setup. It’s a quiet kind of sexy. No frills, no distractions: just you, glowing.
By the end of her session, this bride, who had come in thinking this was just a gift for her fiancé, was walking out with her head held high. That’s the magic of boudoir. It’s not just about the images (although, yes, her album was stunning). It’s about how you feel when you leave the studio.
So, if you’re a bride-to-be wondering what to wear for your session, think of it like this: bring a mix. Something cozy. Something bold. Something bridal. Something unexpected. And if you’re not sure? That’s what I’m here for. We’ll walk through it together and make sure you feel supported every step of the way. (And I have a client closet you can pick from too!)
Your partner will love the album, but more importantly, you will love how you feel. That’s what I love most about being a Minneapolis boudoir photographer.
