As a Minneapolis boudoir photographer, can I share a piece of advice? Shop your closet for what to wear for your session.
While I LOVE a good piece of fiery and sensual lingerie, lately I have found my artist heart gravitating towards more cozy, lived-in looks. I love the tall socks with a tank and thong. Or a cozy cropped tee shirt and boxer shorts.
Imagine waking up late on a Sunday morning, sun streaming through the window. You roll out of bed and the coffee is percolating. You’re wandering around the house listening to music on the record player and there’s no one around.
That’s the vibe we’re going for.
If you’re hesitating booking a boudoir session because you think you have to step into this ultra glam, sexy version of yourself… consider this your official invitation to show up as you are. Pull out your favorite tank or cotton panties, slip into your scrunch socks and step into the studio.
This session below is a perfect example of just that. My client really took into account that comfy and cozy look! She really wanted to feel relaxed and confident in what she feels confident in at home. And took my words into not going out and buying lingerie that felt foreign to her, but what she already owned and loved!
The result? A sensual, casual, morning-after vibe that just lights up my artist self and inspires me so much. My posing and use of lighting is allllll about highlighting who you are. So if the strappy, slinky lingerie just isn’t you – there is no need to pretend.
What do you think? Are you ordering new lingerie sets or picking well-loved pieces from your drawer? (Or both!) No wrong answers here.
