There’s something incredibly intimate about shooting a boudoir session in someone’s home, especially when that home is a stunning mid-century modern dream like Laura’s.
From the moment I walked in, I could feel how much of herself she’d poured into this space. The warm wooden paneling, thoughtfully placed plants, and sleek furniture told a story before I even picked up my camera. Color me giddy to shoot here. So many creative ideas sparking and we spent the whole afternoon collaborating together.
We kicked things off in the living room, where the light filtered in just right and the energy was full-on lazy Sunday morning. (Yes, please). Laura wore a sheer red robe and oversized sunglasses, giving off effortless cool girl energy as we wandered the space. Music played softly in the background, and I followed her lead, capturing her the way she sees herself. That’s the goal, always. To reflect someone’s essence back to them.
As a Minneapolis boudoir photographer, I adore my studio and everything we’ve built there. I’m always excited to show someone the experience within those cozy walls, because we make MAGIC there.
But sessions like this are good for me differently, as an artist. They push me. Stepping into a client’s world, their carefully curated home, their favorite playlist, their cozy corners… it allows me to create something entirely new every time.
Next, we stepped out onto the deck, (still in that killer red robe), to soak up some sun under her bright yellow umbrella. The light, the colors, the vibe: it was all magic.
Then we made our way back to the pool table indoors. She played some pool, and then I had her climb onto the pool table. So much fun to pose with an “oversized prop” like that. It was bold, playful, sexy, and creative. Everything I love about these kinds of in-home creative sessions.
At the heart of every session is the chance to see someone in their element and create something that feels real and deeply personal. That’s what this session was. A celebration of Laura, her mid-century modern style, her space, and her self-expression.
I hope she cherishes these photos forever and really sees herself in them. Because: she is a VIBE.
