This fantasy-inspired studio session was all about creating something soft, dreamy, and a little magical. From the moment she inquired, E shared her love for medieval fantasy. Renaissance festivals are a favorite pastime for her and her partner. And their upcoming wedding will be rooted in that same world. She wanted these images to feel like a quiet nod to that magic. Something nymph-like. Romantic. Feminine. She was going to gift the photos to her partner for his birthday gift.
Her first look featured delicate, blush-toned lingerie. I loved the fine embroidery on the top, and the sheer layers cascading down. The fabric was that perfect texture to nod to romantic/medieval vibes, without dipping into cosplay. Paired with loose hair and minimal styling, the look felt really timeless. Floral elements were layered throughout the session, some of them woven into the scene. Petals on the bed. Soft greenery near the edges of the images. Just enough to suggest fantasy without spelling it out, ya know? I love when someone wants to create and play in the studio this way!
Also, movement played a big role in telling the story. Poses were slow and intentional. Sitting in window light. Stretching across the bed. Kneeling with fabric draped loosely around her. I loved it all!
As the session progressed, we leaned a bit deeper into the fantasy feel. A rich green set added contrast while still feeling earthy and natural. It brought in that woodland nymph energy she envisioned. Loving the medieval type of look does not have to mean elaborate costumes or heavy props. Often, it works best when it is subtle.
One of the final looks stripped things back even further. White fabric… Bare skin… Simple lines. We did some looks at the end with a layered skirt, surrounded by flowers on the floor. The textures itches a part of my brain!
It was playful but grounded. Romantic but real. Most of all, it was personal. These images were made as a gift, but they also reflected something more. A way to step into a version of herself that already exists. One that feels confident, sensual, and fully at home in her body.
A fantasy-inspired studio session like this shows the magic that can happen when you curate a session around you. And make it your own. If you want more inspo, here’s another session where my client had a creative vision and we collaborated together!
