There is something important about starting the new year right by doing something just for yourself. We spend so much time caring for everyone else, and beginning the start of a new journey around the sun with space just for YOU… that’s some real intention.
This client kicked off her 2026 with a boudoir session, and it was her perfect way to step into a fresh season with confidence and intention.
This was my first session back in the studio after the holiday season, and it set the tone in the best way. We’re talking calm, confident and grounded. Yes please. Love bringing this energy into the studio.
These images are shared anonymously so my client’s privacy is fully protected. Which is always a choice every client gets to make before you step foot in the studio.
This session took place in my downtown Minneapolis studio, with soft natural light pouring through sheer curtains. I’m forever obsessing over with the lighting in this space. We went for subtle and natural. The palette for the session was neutral tones. And we kept the sets simple.
My client’s outfits were effortless and relaxed. She opted for a sheer button down layered over lace underwear. A casual tee paired with fishnets. A cozy faux fur jacket that added texture and playfulness. I loved the variety that these added to her gallery! I always recommend bringing a few different styles with you so we have room to play around. And, there is also a small client closet in the studio that we can pull from.
The vibe in the photos is laid back and unforced. That’s what we were going for. We moved slowly. We followed what felt good. That is where the magic always happens in capturing who you truly are through artistic imagery.
After documenting hundreds of women in front of my camera I’ve learned something about boudoir photography. It does not have to be about a milestone or a big motivating reason. Sometimes it is simply about choosing yourself. Choosing to feel present in your body. Choosing to begin the year with confidence and self trust.
This client showed up open and curious, and that energy carried through the entire session. You do not need to change a thing to be worthy of being photographed.
