When I first posted this Phone Booth Session over on my Instagram, I was unprepared for how much you all would LOVE IT. I mean… I love it!! But I’ve gotten so many DMs, inquiries and comments about this shoot. I figured it was time to share it on the blog so it can really get its flowers!!
So, this idea was sparked when I saw another local photographer post that they had designed this set. I immediately knew I wanted to shoot there. After a long winter and months of back-to-back studio sessions, I could feel myself craving something different. Don’t get me wrong—supporting my clients and creating unique, empowering boudoir portraits will always be my heart. But even as a Minneapolis boudoir photographer, sometimes you need to break the norm, and do something just for the fun of it. This is my approach to being a photographer, and I swear by it!
The studio I rented is known for their bold sets and over-the-top prop builds— think glitter walls, retro couches, and yes, an actual photo booth installation. It was the perfect spot to shake into a new season and kickstart the Spring/Summer vibes in my boudoir studio.
For this shoot, I styled a look that was a little more editorial. I’ve been so inspired by the cozy lived-in look with high socks and cotton pieces. I wanted to bring that vibe into this session. Think sultry-meets-street-style with a dash of bold color and attitude. I played with movement, angles, and shadow in a way I hadn’t done in months. And honestly? It felt SO good. It gave me the kind of creative energy that makes you remember why you started in the first place. Which, as a full-time photographer, becomes really important!
Something I have learned along the way, after shooting boudoir for years with hundreds of women: creativity needs space to breathe. And sometimes that means saying yes to something spontaneous. This photo booth shoot reminded me that joy and inspiration are powerful tools—not just for me, but for my clients too. Because when I’m feeling lit up behind the camera, that translates to me capturing your authentic self in an artistic way; a way that will change the way YOU see you. See the ripple effect there??
As a Minneapolis boudoir photographer, I know I’ll always be pursuing creative endeavorers and bringing the energy back to my clients. Rinse, repeat.
