Want some maternity shoot outfit inspiration? You’re in the right spot. As I have been shooting more and more expecting mama sessions, I have seen some amazing inspo for what to wear for your session. And this shoot was no exception.
There was actually something extra special about this shoot, because this client and I were besties in middle school! We’ve always made a point to keep up throughout the years. So when she reached out for maternity photos, I knew this session would be so fun! Watching her step into this new season of life, growing a tiny human, and getting to document it all? It doesn’t get better than that!!
For this photo shoot, we wanted to keep things simple, authentic, and true to her. We started with a laid-back look: denim jeans paired with a classic black bra. I absolutely love this casual vibe for expecting mom photos. It feels real and honest, and it lets that baby bump take center stage. She also threw on a white tank with a white button up for a few shots. This gave us a bit of contrast. An easy outfit “change” that didn’t take away from the cozy, at-home feel.
The next set she chose was a light blue stripped matching set. The matching bralette and long pajama-style pants gave the Sunday-morning-at-home vibe we were going for. I especially loved the baby blue in contrast with her blonde hair. Yes please! (Here’s a similar set if you want to recreate the look!)
But my favorite look? The soft, matching white set. She ditched the bra for this one, and it gave us the dreamiest, coziest mom-to-be look. It felt so natural and at ease. You could just picture her in the nursery, dreaming about all the little moments to come. There’s something about the simplicity of it that makes the photos feel timeless to me.
I love weaving partners into maternity shoots because there are so many shared experiences when preparing to welcome a little one. One day, you’ll look back at these photos and remember not just the bump, but the excitement you felt together waiting for your baby together.
This session was everything I would dream up for a cozy pre-baby moment. And it was also stacked with maternity shoot outfit inspiration. I’ll be referring to this one for a while when my clients ask me what to wear!
I also wanted to mention that we have changed up our maternity+newborn packages here at Mary Castillo Photography!
