There’s something about that late afternoon glow that makes creativity come alive. This Golden Hour model session was exactly what my creative soul needed. After a busy summer of back-to-back client work, which left me feeling so inspired, it felt amazing to funnel that into an outlet. To slow down, pick up my camera, and create just for the sake of creating. As a Minneapolis boudoir photographer, I view myself as an artist first and business second. I try to always stay rooted to the artistic process of it all as I grow my business. I feel so honored/grateful/excited/in awe to be able to do what I love every day.
The sunlight poured through the windows and danced across the walls. The light changed every few minutes, which made each shot feel new and refreshed. My model wore simple, relaxed pieces. The casual look is my new fav uniform. We opted for a black bra and jeans, later switching to a soft white top and black bottoms. The mix of denim and delicate fabrics gave the whole shoot a perfect balance for the overall, cohesive creative vision.
I wanted to push myself creatively, exploring new poses and different ways to capture the human form in that dreamy, golden light. The warmth on her skin, the detail of her tattoos, the spark in her eyes… it all came together so naturally.
They’re where I try out new techniques, lighting angles, and posing prompts that eventually make their way into my client sessions. Sometimes, stepping back into that creative flow is exactly what you need. I channel the skills I’ve picked up while working, and hone them into new ideas for my clients.
This golden hour model session reminded me of that magic. The quiet, the glow, the art of simply creating without expectation. It’s everything I love about this work.
