Let’s talk about Creative Sessions! If you haven’t looked at my breakdown between Creative Vs Studio sessions, make sure to peek at that first.
But since this style of session is so new at Mary Castillo Photography, I wanted to take a minute to deep dive into what they can look like! A session in my inclusive, safe studio space in NE Minneapolis is always going to be an experience that is near to my heart. I mean, I LOVE that space and am very proud of what we’ve created together.
But throughout the course of 2024, I started playing with photographing people in different spaces. An Airbnb in Canada. A rooftop in LA. One of our beautiful lakes. A sunny backyard pool. The intimacy of your own home.
And quite frankly, I fell in love with this creative expression. Using the environment as a key player in your session; a part of the storytelling.
I changed held space in my business structure to allow them to grow, and I’m so happy that I did. You have welcomed me into your home. Gotten creative with outfits and poses. And brought out a whole new creative avenue I didn’t know existed.
So if you’re gravitating towards these sessions… let’s dive in. What could that look like for you?
The first step in any Creative session is booking your date! After that is squared away, we will hop on a zoom call to brainstorm together. No bad ideas, we just chat and get artistic together. We’ll go over everything from what to wear, to where to park, to the VIBE we want to create together.
Then we meet up on your session day and make the magic happen. I have a pop up tent that I bring with me, so you can comfortably change anywhere. And we play music, get comfy and create some beautiful images. I walk you through all the poses – yes, I’m the photographer who is demonstrating every single movement, down to where to place your hand.
After your shoot, we will meet back up at the studio about three weeks later. We will go through all the edited images to gather and you will get to pick which ones you wanna keep forever. These will become a part of the fabric of your life, images you will return to over and over.
