This client came from Montana to Minnesota and found her way to my studio. And I’m so glad she did, because we had the most magical session. And I loved the way her images turned out.
Here’s the thing, when you come into my studio, it’s about more than the photos. It’s about connecting to yourself. And remembering who you are. It’s about holding space for that.
This particular session was extra special because her best friend has done multiple sessions with me over the years, and she’s always been on the receiving end of hearing about the shoots. But now it was time for her own experience in the studio.
The natural light streaming through the sheer curtains in my Minneapolis studio set the mood perfectly. My studio is intentionally designed to feel soft, minimal, and timeless so the focus stays right where it should. On you. This session was a good mix of playful, and sultry. My approach as an artist is always to capture who you are authentically. Whether she was draped across the bed in black lace, leaning back in a chair with her hair tumbling around her shoulders, or wrapped in nothing but white sheets, every pose was in the same pursuit of helping her capture her essence.
We kept things simple yet impactful. She started in a classic black lace bodysuit, which photographed beautifully against the airy white bedding. Later, she changed into a light blue lingerie set. I loved the soft & feminine feel. It was the perfect contrast to the boldness of the black lace. To finish, we played with the simplicity of fabric draping, which is a client favorite in the studio. Letting the natural lines of your body take center stage. Every look brought out a new side of her personality, and the variety created such a powerful gallery.
Boudoir is more than just lingerie or pretty poses. It’s more than getting photos done for a milestone like a wedding or pregnancy or life change. It’s about creating space for people to feel truly seen. And further? Creating space for people to feel worthy of being documented. Whether you’ve been thinking about it for years or it’s something spontaneous you book while visiting a friend, the experience has a way of reminding you of your own magic. Inside and out.
I feel so lucky to have been able to capture this session, with this client, all the way from Montana to Minnesota. And I love knowing that these images will be something she can look back on for years to come. If you’ve ever thought about booking a boudoir session, consider this your sign. Reach out here, the studio is always open to you.
